Funds Raised: over $8,000!

Friday night we opened the doors of the Stavely Community Centre to welcome about 50 people, team players to practice up and spectators to try out this ever-growing sport.

By 10AM, on Saturday morning, our 42 amateur teams were gearing up to toss their first bags. Laughter and fun had started to raise the roof, some bags even managed to lodge them selves in there. With the amazing help of the Strathmore Huskers Cornhole Club (Karen, Matty & Al) the new easy electronic scoring and tiering made it much nicer to keep the games moving (even despite the glitch in the system). Before heading into the tiering, we paused for lunch, supplied by Gord Guitton & Terry Linn of 2 Smoke 4 U BBQ and Wen-Dee Events kept our beverages coming with bartending help of DeeDee Linn, Roth Drake, Dustin Drake, Marni Lane and Steph Norby, before heading back to the boards for some fun.

Last Man Standing pitted the men against the women. With one bag and one chance to get it in the board hole. If successful, you were safe to continue and to move to the back of the line. If your bag hit the floor, or if the person behind you managed to get it in the hole, you were out. The last woman standing, Trina Eskeland (first time cornholer) and our last man standing, Mike Haaland, each tossed, and Mike was crowned our Last Man Standing, each awarded a cash prize.

With teams warmed up again, we started the finals, two tiers, Cob for the leading teams and Husk for the others. Before heading into the final games, we feasted on a delicious supper of beef on a bun, salad and beans by Gord & Terry. We also announced our silent auction winners & the 50/50 winner of $559.00 to Steph Norby.

Our Cornhole winners received “corny” trophies and prizes. The finishers were:
