Celebrating 27 Years

The inaugural meeting of the Foundation was held on April 14th, 1999. In attendance were B.J. Knott, Marj Flanagan, Blanche Hall, Gordon Brown, Ernie Patterson, Ken Woods, Olive Darch, Myrna Richards, Kelly Strong, Fergie Johnson and Norine Whiting.

The main objectives of this first meeting was to elect an executive, review by-laws established by Alberta Health for Foundations, and to take steps to have the $231,453.00 held in trust by Headwaters Regional Health Authority returned to the Foundation in Claresholm. These funds had been transferred in April 1995 when the Claresholm & District Health Board had become part of the Headwaters Health Region.

The first executive consisted of Ernie Patterson, Chairman; Ken Woods, Vice-Chairman; Olive Darch, Secretary; and Kelly Strong, Treasurer. The money was transferred to the Foundation on September 16th, 1999.

The first fundraising project succeeded in raising $100,000 to purchase a heart monitoring system for the Claresholm General Hospital.

Over the years many volunteers have served on the board and over $2.5 million dollars have raised used to purchase equipment for our local healthcare facilities; Claresholm General Hospital, Claresholm Centre for Mental Health and Addictions, Willow Creek Continuing Care Centre, Lander Treatment Centre, Claresholm Mental Health Clinic, and the Claresholm Community Health Centre (including Home Care).

Thank you to all our donors, volunteers and community for your continued support!

All funds raised here, continue to stay here!
